The Process of Unstop

This month I wanted to explore the typefaces used in road signage — from bus and taxi markings to the iconic STOP signs we all know.

That’s how Unstop was born. In this first version, it features a dual-variable system: width and weight. The result is a family with 9 distinctive styles, designed to adapt to different contexts.

The name is a nod to the typeface’s origin, but also to its philosophy: a typeface in progress, one that will keep evolving and being refined over time.

This project is part of #FontMonth. Every month, I plan, design, and release a new typeface in just 30 days.
